Johnsey and Sullivan selected for Best Lawyers in America

Press Release September 3, 2009

WHITE & ALLEN LAWYERS INCLUDED IN THE BEST LAWYERS IN AMERICA

White & Allen, P.A. has announced that attorneys C. Gray Johnsey and Matthew S. Sullivan have been selected for the 2010 edition of The Best Lawyers In America.

Johnsey was selected in the specialty of Trust and Estates. This is his seventeenth year recognized by Best Lawyers and he has now joined an elite group of attorneys to attain such recognition. Sullivan was selected in the specialty of Product Liability Litigation.

Selection to Best Lawyers is based on a peer-review survey. The American Lawyer has described Best Lawyers as “the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice."

Johnsey received his law degree (J.D.) from the Cumberland School of Law, Samford University; and his Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.) from the University of Florida.

Johnsey has handled tax, probate, and estate and business planning matters in Eastern North Carolina for more than 25 years. He is a board certified specialist in Estate Planning and Probate Law and a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Johnsey is a member of the Southeastern Trust School Faculty at Campbell University.

Sullivan is a member of the Board of Governors of the North Carolina Advocates of Justice (NCAJ), formerly the N.C. Academy of Trial Lawyers.

He attended Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University and received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) (magna cum laude) in 1995.

White & Allen, P.A. is a full-service law firm that has offered a wide range of legal services to Eastern North Carolina since 1927. Its practice areas include bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, civil litigation, personal injury, commercial law, corporate law, criminal law, elder law, employee benefits, employment law, estate planning and administration, family law, health care law, real estate and tax planning.

Ribbon Cutting

White & Allen will hold a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at 5:00 p.m. at the New Bern office located at 1319 Commerce Street. The firm is pleased that we have 5 attorneys in the New Bern office. Those attorneys are John Bircher, Katherine Forrest, Brian Gatchel, Brian Taylor, and Mokey Lasitter. W&A has a great staff as well.

Question: What attributes are most important to you in choosing an attorney?

Thanks for your input!

Updated Webpage!

The economy is putting a strain on many businesses. I'm trying to think of ways to economize and save money for the firm, i.e., using email vs. mailing correspondence, powering down computers at night. Do you have any cost saving tips to share with us?

First Post

Hello. I'm Jean Sugg, office manager for White & Allen, P.A. Welcome to our blog. This is our first blogging experience. We hope to provide useful information to our clients and others.

On Friday the 13th I attended a seminar presented by the Law Practice Management Section of the N.C. Bar Association. Among other things, I learned about http://www.twitter.com/. Am I just behind in the tech world? I had not heard of it. You sign up - no charge. Once logged in, you simply answer one question: What are you doing right now? You can "follow" other users and keep up with what they are doing. I'm following some acquaintances from the law practice management section as well as Ashton Kutchner (is that spelled correctly?). You can also post a question for other's responses, and you can search for folks you know. Is Twitter useful for a law office? I'm not sure. I'm still experimenting with it.

Is there is a blog topic you want our attorneys to address? Just let us know.

Here's to blogging with you.
